Talented and Gifted Program

Talented and Gifted (TAG) students are an important part of every school community across the state of Oregon.  In Oregon, all districts and schools must have a plan for how they will meet the academic and social-emotional needs of TAG students, and communicate these plans to the students and families they serve.  The Jewell School District has updated its TAG plan to meet current state requirements.  Please see the attached plan for specific information about the Jewell School District's identification process and program options.  If you have any questions about our TAG program, please contact George Scott (Principal) at georges@jewellk12.org, and Natalie Chong (School Counselor) at nataliec@jewellk12.org.

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a key piece of federal law related to the education of homeless children and youth.  Every school district has a local liaison who specializes in enrolling displaced children in school. At Jewell School, the MV liaisons are Natalie Chong and Martha Stephens. The McKinney-Vento Act covers any displaced child or youth who is living in a car, public space, shelter, motel, temporary or inadequate trailer, doubled-up with friends or relatives, or any other homeless situation.  If you are interested in learning more about the McKinney-Vento Program at Jewell, please contact Natalie Chong at nataliec@jewellk12.org.
